Hopkins Village Charter

The Village of Hopkins created a Charter in 1921 that effectively set the Village apart from the greater Township and enacted “home rule” governance for the Village and its residents. This charter was amended in 1967, the content of which is still active in the governance of the Village of Hopkins today.

1921 Hopkins Village Charter

In 2019, the Village of Hopkins voted to revise the 1921 Charter and update it to reflect its current needs. This revision was a complete reworking of the Charter, building off of work that had already been done in 2005. This revised Charter, if approved by the State of Michigan, will come to a vote of the Village residents in August of 2022.
